Site Programme

We were engaged with Princess Alexandra Hospital since the summer of 2020, with our first project starting on site in October 2020. Since then we have worked with the Trust to deliver a ground breaking 10 schemes.

Our approach to working together and our accelerated works processes, have meant that from the 1 project we were initially procured for, we were then selected to complete a further 9 more.

Many of the projects were born out of the Hospital facing unprecedented pressures in terms of patient numbers and how efficiently they could be reviewed. This was an issue pre covid, but during the pandemic this issue was exacerbated.

With the new modern hospital still in the design process, the build and readiness for patients is many years to come; the Trust needs to address several areas of existing Hospital to make it fit for purpose now.

This has covered:

  • Updating wards to modern day medical grade standards.
  • Improving layouts and creating efficiencies for different patient types.
  • Providing additional space due to distancing measures.

“The Actiform project team worked ‘hand in hand’ with their design team to create a future focused build that rethinks the way a NHS trust delivers modular construction within a conventional aging and varied built environment, and that is integrated into the core operation of the hospital. The completed build environment was an integral part of the overall strategy for the new emergency care services.”

Adult Assessment Unit

Duration

12 Weeks / 16 Weeks

A two-storey extension, completed over 2 phases. Initially to support the pandemic, with non-covid patients, long term it will provide a dedicated space to see patients for rapid assessment and treatment for a variety of illnesses and injuries.

CT Scanner Module

Duration

12 Weeks

The introduction of the CT Scanner facility improves the turnaround time and increases the flow of urgent care patients through the hospital. This specially designed module is lead lined and is linked directly with the Frailty Assessment Unit.

Winter Ward

Duration

12 Weeks

At Actiform we also provide traditional building services. At PAH we are providing strip out and fit out of wards, to bring them up to current medical grade standards. Penn Ward was the first ward we have refurbished.

Saunders Ward

Duration

10 Weeks

Following the refurbishment of Penn Ward and Winter Ward we are now conducting a refurbishment of Saunders Ward. This accelerated works package allows for minimum disruption and quick turnaround of much needed ward space at the Hospital.

Medical Records Store

Duration

4 Weeks

The Medical Records Store at the Hospital was relocated due to the reconfiguration of space within the hospital due to COVID. A new highly secure and fit for purpose module was introduced with a link to the main hospital building, to house the sensitive records.

Frailty Unit

Duration

14 Weeks

The Frailty Assessment Unit is an integral part of the Hospital providing care for frail patients generally those aged 75 years
or above. Created based on the demand for winter patients, the short stay facility alleviates pressures from other areas
of the Hospital.

Alex Lounge & Agile Workspace

Duration

14 Weeks

This project which is currently on site is delivering much needed additional space for the restaurant area. It will also provide
a much-needed rest-bite area for staff who have delivered long shifts, including a multi-use room where they can relax including a yoga space.

Training & Education Centre

Duration

20 Weeks

Our most recent project; a fast track, non- modular scheme using SIP technology which is being constructed beneath an existing Ward. This training facility will replicate exact specifications of real Theatre and Ward spaces, including frontline technologies.

Working closely with estates and clinical leads, Actiform supported the design development for the transformation of our clinical emergency care services for the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow. This involved a complete design and build modular construction to complement the creation of a state-of-the-art emergency care service.

Actiform helped us to embrace the opportunities presented by a new modular build clinical space with appropriate technology to create and support a new model of service that responds to changing clinical needs, meets the trust’s corporate objectives, and complies with sector building performance targets that we will need to meet.

The Actiform team mapped out the route to move away from the traditional siloed traditional structures, facilitating the opportunity to adopt a more flexible and adaptable approach to support services that will be complimented by technology, and support our digital clinical strategy development.

The Actiform project team worked ‘hand in hand’ with their design team to create a future focused build that rethinks the way a NHS trust delivers modular construction within a conventional ageing and varied built environment, and that is integrated into the core operation of the hospital. The completed build environment was an integral part of the overall strategy for the new emergency care services.

The whole team at Actiform provide an outstanding level of customer service. Their knowledge of modular building and taking our design thoughts and turning these working collaboratively into completed projects makes working with the team very enjoyable.

Actiform have a very good network of dependable third-party trades which complement the experience and push the art of the possible in terms of innovation.

Not really sure what you could do better as when we raise issues they are dealt with in a timely manner, and you have good processes to ensure we never experience the same issue twice.

Steve Wilcock, Chief Operating Officer, TAC Healthcare

The service we received from Actiform in acquiring additional modular office space was exceptional. From the initial flexibility around design to meet our needs, through to achieving delivery and install on time was first class. Nothing was too much trouble and the communication throughout the process was excellent, whilst providing a value for money solution.

Steve Preston, Operations Manager, Leeds Federated Housing Association

Having used Actiform to supply a large compound set up on a Smart Motorway project, the service received was second to none. From the initial enquiry to the final installation, all aspects of the project went to plan. The cabin design and layout was revised on numerous occasions and no request or alteration seemed to be too much trouble. All communication, planning and installation was very collaborative and all key dates and deadlines were actually completed ahead of programme.

Corin Feltham in particular offered his wealth of knowledge and experience throughout the process along with introducing some excellent ideas to save both time and money. All in all a good experience working with Actiform and I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again on other schemes.

Dave Wright, Site Agent, Kier Highways

Back in the autumn of 2015 we had a requirement to procure offices and welfare facilities of 3,000m2 plus over 3 floors for our Tideway-East project in Bermondsey, London.

We went out to tender and Actiform provided a construction package that we eventually purchased. Right from the start – sales , tender, design, manufacture, installation and aftercare support, Actiform have been very professional, proactive and suggested cost saving solutions without compromising our facilities. Their site installation team had all the correct RAMS and certification to carry out our installation in a planned and well organised time scale.

From the beginning both parties, CVB JV and Actiform, have worked openly and honestly together and we have an excellent working relationship. I cannot praise Actiform enough and would certainly recommend them to any prospective client.
